1st problem .... Fuel gauge stopped working

I suppose it had to happen, my 1st problem with the rangy Sad

Driving along today, over 1/2 tank of fuel, the all of a sudden warning light came on and fuel gauge showing completely empty.

I know I defiantly have over 1/2 tank of fuel, so can only assume the sender has failed or a connector has come off ?

I have a full warranty so no worries on that side, but would like to know wether it's a simple fix I could maybe do ?

Not a simple fix, a few of us have had this happen for all to return to normal and never recur. There are two senders in the fuel tanks and the dash takes an agregate reading, either one of the sensors is a little dicky or the dash is t reading them properly.

Personally i would fill it up and see how you go on. Mine did it about 6 months ago, had a real dicky fit for a couple of days and hasnt happened again since. Whistle There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I'll fill it tomorrow and see what happens, although think I'll be on the phone to my local dealer on. Monday

There is a tech bulletin about 2010 my fuel gauge it basically requires you to bypass the connectors to the sensors inside the fuel tank Big Cry 2011 4.4tdv8 vogue black with black

Well, filling it to the brim with fuel didn't work Sad

Phone call to the dealers now required to get it sorted under warranty

Happened to me about 2 months ago. On full warranty so off it to my friends Adam and Steve at Harwoods Edenbridge and they sorted me out. New connectors and all well, car valeted and everyone happy. Apparently its a big job as they have to drop the tank to do the work. Would have cost over £400 without the Approved Warranty - ouch! Still as a loyal LR customer I'm sure they would make a contribution. No problems since the work was done either.

Mines booked into Ripon LR next week. Hope all is plain sailing.

Have a few other little cosmetic niggles to sort to get the car perfect, but its going back to the supplying dealer for those

Sender unit had failed. Its a common known issue on Discovery's & RRS's , but turns out Full Fats are potentially prone to it as well ( a certain range of chassis numbers ) . Ripon reckon they don't see many FF's with the senders failing.

Anyway, as it is also a known issue to LR , the approved Warrenty company rejected it .

Luckilly, LandRover Customer Services have approved the repair and are covering the costs themselves Cool

Hopefully have the car back soon

I have just had exactly this happen, so will be getting Harwoods to look into it (and continue chasing the strange unidentified sound from the dash!). Reassuring to come on here and find this info - thanks to all the previous contributors!

Mines does it from time to time, I tend to fill it up and reset the trip computer then I start looking for a petrol station at about 350 miles, I guess one day I'll either fix it or get it fixed properly but it only does it every now and again but then again it needs fixing. Thumbs Up Geoff

Sounds like a new sender is needed. They are not cheap but I got one off LR direct for a decent price a while back, though I think in the end they made a loss on it....... Rolling Eyes There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
