Tesla

A car pulled out on me last night and I had no idea what it was till I was at the side of the lights next to him and saw it was one of the save the planet members in his electric car, on looking through the windows they've got huge displays in the middle for the first entertainment and another for the electric status no wonder they only do 200 miles take the screens away and they'd double the distance Thumbs Up seemed quick tbh but no sound would be odd not my barrow but each to their own .

No chance Mick. I've driven one and they're quicker than 285hp might indicate. The power delivery is relentless with no gearchanges and massive amounts of torque. Looks wise I thought it was very like the Jag XF and the interior quality is up there with the Jag too. Range of over 350 miles claimed but probably driving like Miss Daisy to get that. Just the 75k price tag that put me off TBH.

I did some demo drives in them, from 0-60 little accelerates faster, from 0-30 I doubt anything does!

Impressive technology and cool that I could drive from home to Geneva with zero refuelling cost (using Tesla superchargers), easily the best and most useable electric car I have driven yet but still a lot of money for the underlying vehicle.

For comfort an S class is far better but I'm not sure that's a fair comparison. 2016 (L405) Autobiography in Black with Ivory - for ULEZ

A chappy in the office above us parks his in the electric bay at work. It's an 85s

Speaking to him it's all wheel drive, goes like a bullet (his previous car was an M5) and in his words "if you can get your head around the charging it up malarky" it's one of the best cars he's had.

The screen in the middle is insane, like an old Mac A4 monitor ! Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

I suspect if I lived with one I would come down on his side of the fence, virtually zero cost per extra mile travelled makes an attractive proposition.

I'm not sure everyone would agree but my impression was brilliant powertrain but less impressive chassis.

The internal screen is enormous isn't it, and very informative with great parking sensors btw.

Unless you have tried to really boot the quickest one though you can truly have no idea how quick they are off the line.....
I have driven a lot of quick things but I can't remember a petrol engined car that accelerates so brutally. 2016 (L405) Autobiography in Black with Ivory - for ULEZ

"brutal acceleration"...that's the exact phrase the chap in the adjacent office used, and he's an M-Power fan by all accounts. Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

I've a mate who works for Tesla in San Fran, been out there a few times and experienced the wonder of the P85D... 0-60 <3 sec, the mid range shove (say, 30-90) is intoxicating, squirting through gaps in the traffic. Range seems solid at 300 miles using it with gusto from time to time. Amazing thing. But costly to buy. Graham

one button says it all in the P85D's...
INSANE MODE

There is a supercharger not far from me and for most work i pass it at least twice a day so if i could afford the outlay i'd be on it like a shot as free juice just for sitting around for 30mins and playing on FB or here is a no brainer TBH Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Thinking about one for the wife. She does lots of miles but it is mainly local with a "return to base" at the end of the day.

With the tax benefit, it starts to be very attractive.

The downside is that she will never plug it in. That will be my job. If I fail to do it and the car dies, that will be my fault. Also, if it breaks down, that will be my fault too.

In my mind, the biggest question would be about the residuals. Do they hold their value or are they still too new and scarce to tell yet?

I've seen a few accelerate away from me on the M4 and they do move well.

I also saw one here in Abu Dhabi yesterday. Fuel is 30p/litre FFS!! Why? Si. <This is my name.

I eat rat poison.

I saw one recently that was a year old and 20k on it somehow and was only £4K cheaper than new but then no waiting list!!

I heard there was a taxi firm up north that had a few on fleet and it was saving them loads of dough as they were basically using a supercharger twice a day in most cases to do quick charges for 30mins.. Downtime V's fuel cost saved must work out well....

As for not plugging it in and breaking down... Well why not let the Mrs pick and chose and pay for her own car and sort it all out? We are in an equality structure these days aren't we?! FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I'm with the Emperor - all the jobs would fall to me and any and all problems would be my fault. She currently puts her own petrol in and long may that continue Bow down Geoff
