Looked into same, looks superb, the Bluetooth one looks ideal. Do they need a disc drive as I have a Mac I don't have one, will further research for sure 👍 Many thanks

Presumably you mean an external disc drive i.e.cd-rom or floppy etc? - no, not necessary. You connect the IID tool to your pc via a (supplied) USB cable, download the latest software, then plug to unit in to the car and go on line to the GAP web site to obtain your activation code - so simple even I managed to do it, and the tool has already paid for itself many times over.
Definitely go for the BT version, as the live values facility is really worth having.

Yes sorry no cd drive but if usb then no issues.
Do you have to plug it into the car and go online at the same time as having no laptop then I would be stuck at that point.

I'm looking at this as one option but initially will get a Indy to do the work, if I can get some decent support which I'm not right now. Many thanks
Paul

No the USB is only really needed to update the firmware on the actual tool.

There are two options for using the BT tool, either through the steering wheel buttons and the digital display on the dash. or via bluetooth using the app on your phone. Iphone and Ipad seem to be more widely supported than other devices.

Controlling is via your phone is much more user friendly.

When you initially plug it into your car, you have to register the device. As i remember you plug it into the car, and get a code from the dash. Enter this code into the gap website and it generates an unlock code, you then go back to the car and enter this code into the tool and you're done.

Auto locking is a customer preference option in the settings. I switched it on, on my 2004 model, you can also choose whether pressing the unlock button on the fob unlocks all the doors or just the drivers door.

Folding mirrors when you lock isn't, it wasn't on my 2007 Jaguar either! Yet it was on my mums 2004 Citroen, along with auto closing of windows and sunroof if it rained - Citroen always seem to lead the way on tech mind you. Crazy really as it's only a question of them writing a bit of software code for the BCM.

They may well do but their decision this year to drop Hydro is quite shocking considering it still gives one of the best rides out there and was still selling in decent numbers on the top spec exclusive models. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

If this is something that is a 'must have' and 'right now' then there are five choices IMHO:

1. Buy a Faultmate/IID Tool or similar;
2. Travel to see another forum member (and pay the cost of the fuel)
3. Get the forum member to come to you (and pay their fuel (if required))
4. Go to the Stealers and get it done there for ££'s
5. Go to Craig's, have a coffee and save yourself fuel, time, hassle and have a good chat........... Very Happy

Just my thoughts.

regards

John

On the earlier RR without touch screen you can do the folding mirrors ( i think on lock/unlock or on door open/close or on key in/out) but you need the intravee II gizmo to do that.

A number of other options are also available via that "black box" but I sold mine with my old car. I will have a look but do a search on Intravee and you will turn something up.. Thumbs Up Ash
