I've done the Auto Door locking on my 2004/5 via my Faultmate and IIRC you can set the activation speed that the doors lock as well ......

Regards

John

Wish I could.

The handbook certainly says a dealer can do the locking but both dealers said not possible to me, armed with a slim chance of the handbook I will call the one who did the work on mine tomorrow and try again. Many thanks
Paul

I did but am none the wise nor any further forward sadly. Surely two main dealers both can't be wrong ? Many thanks

It depends who you actually spoke to at the dealer, there's a good chance of two poorly trained service advisors being wrong. Armed with the handbook they can't really say it's not possible. I have plenty of experience with various manufactuers Main dealers service departments and Parts departments telling me this or that isn't possible or isn't available. Then when you present them with a print from the handbook or parts catalogue they take it off to someone else in an office or workshop and get told "yeah of course we can do it".

Have a look through the handbook and write down all the other dealer programable options, as if it's going in to have one changed, it wont cost any more to have several changed. So make sure you're aware of all your options and have them all set to your preference at the same time, saves going back and paying again.

If they try and charge you any more than say £200 for doing it, don't bother, just order yourself an IID tool (about £350), then you'll have to tool to adjust what ever you like when you like. They shouldn't charge any more than £100 max to do it though, it's only really 1/2 hour labour.

Thanks for the informative reply.

I have just emailed somebody else at my dealer as the one who told me it wasn't possible recently came from Hyundi and has since "left ", so that's a good reason for one dealer. The other I asked I just got a simple reply from a nice girly who may not have bothered to check.
The first was Stratstone, the other Listers.

The guy I have just emailed is the type who will check carefully plus I have as advised stated its in my manual so should be possible..

I will report back, promise. Many thanks
Paul

Auto locking is definately possible. I had it activated on mine just after I bought it. An indy did it for £40. Strangely it doesn't auto unlock when I shut the ignition off, as it does on my Dad's freelander 2 which also auto folds the mirrors on locking.

As I said I got mine done at a local independent specialist. I booked it in for the wiring for the tow bar activating. You pay per 15 mins of time on their computers. I asked if there was time would they do the speed locking. As it happened they could not do the tow wiring harness as they said the option wasn't there but they did the speed locking. It turned out that the harness didn't need activating and they ended up not charging me anything at all! Happy days.

Just get yourself an IID tool, you will be able to do your door looking, and a host of other things too Thumbs Up Thumbs Up (but not the mirrors unfortunately, that isn't an option on the earlier cars) Big Cry

You will need an IID tool sooner or later for checking fault codes anyhow Whistle Whistle 2006 (56 Reg) 4.4 V8 Vogue In Bonatti Grey (Gorgeous!!)
