A/C button flashing?

Today when i started the car i noticed that the a/c light on the climate controll panel flashed. First it flashed a couple of times then it went out completely a couple of seconds then it started flashing again. At first when i tried to press the button nothing happend but after a couple of pushes i was able to turn the flashing of. Turned it on again and it flashed a couple of more times then it started to behave as normal and i didnt have any problems with it.

Have never seen this before, any ideas? Temperature was around 10 celsius at the time. Car is a 2003 petrol

Cheers! Very Happy L322 Vogue 2003

Doubt it.. Had the system pressure checked and refilled with new gas just before the summer at a very good local indy and they said everything looked tiptop!

I should also mention that i changed the climate panel to a brand new facelift version (the one with silverknobs) the other day since my old one was broke but the only differance between the old and new panel is that the A/C and the "PROG" button has swapped places.. L322 Vogue 2003

It may be worth trying your old panel in again incase your new panel is in some way faulty. Ive never heard of a flashing ac button and I spent several months researching ac problems when my system failed!

I seem to remember many moons ago reading that the A/C light would flash if the system could not reach the temperature set on the dial i.e sun room open, A/C on low.

Could this be your problem?

to MillarJ90s point - it could be an internal cabin temp sensor failed so the unit "thinks" it can't reach temperature?

probably needs to go on diags to get fault codes read. Ash
