United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black
L322 service quote

Hi all

The next service on my 2011 TDV8 is an 'Inspection 1'. The car is under LR warranty, so I understand that I need to have the servicing carried out by a LR authorised dealer. I called my local dealer (Lookers Battersea) and they quoted in excess of £800. Is this rather steep? Any recommendations for other dealers in the home counties/greater London area? What have others paid for an Inspection 1?

Thanks

You only need to have the servicing carried out by a "VAT registered garage", it doesn't have to be a franchised Land-Rover dealer or even a Land-Rover specialist, just VAT registered.

Check the warranty handbook, it's in there. Wink

Not sure where they are, but Rcv.co.uk quote £511. Fully Land Rover trained technicians.
I shall be watching replies with interest,

My Inspection 1 back in July was ~£460 from a well respected specialist. For the price you've been quoted I hope they'd wash it too.

Would a 2011 not be under some kind of extended warranty i.e. insurance backed. In that case I think you'll need to check the policy terms as these warranties are not covered by Block Exemption.

BMW AUC warranty dictated that the car had to be serviced at a main dealer.

Things may have changed but best to check.

Try shopping around. Prices vary wildly.

I rang Taggarts in Glasgow for a price on our SC yesterday and they wanted £490 + £55 for an MOT. My sister lives in Newcastle so I rang Team Valley in Newcastle who quoted £280 for the service + £45 for the MOT. Even with the cost of fuel it works out at £100 less then Taggarts wanted and gets us a day out to see my sister.

Thanks all. I have just got home and have read Condition 12 in my Approved Warranty manual, as noted by pld118. Good news that I can go with a specialist should I so choose. It's amazing that there is such variation in servicing pricing. I'll definitely be shopping around!

Most of the main dealers offer a service package.

For example, Hunters offer a four year package (4 services covering all scheduled servicing, excluding brake fluid) for £53 per month.

I also looked at Harwoods who offer a service package for £480 annually for cars under 3 years old, and £420 including MOT for cars over this age, plus a discount on parts and labour.

I'm not in any way standing up for the dealers, however I'd be interested in why you make this statement?

Another tip Is to source the correct oils yourself, the dealers charge an arm and a leg for the fluids, buying the oil separate saves quite a few pennies Thumbs Up

Also shop around as said, starting at your local dealer, ring a few across the country, then go back to the first one and tell them the cheapest price, and they should do a deal. My MD does Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Very true, but you don't even have to use the main dealer at all. Just a VAT registered garage.

Engine oil is the worst rip off from main dealers though, when you consider most of them will buy it in bulk drums, even more cheaply than you can source it in bottles.
