You only need to have the servicing carried out by a "VAT registered garage", it doesn't have to be a franchised Land-Rover dealer or even a Land-Rover specialist, just VAT registered.

Not sure where they are, but Rcv.co.uk quote £511. Fully Land Rover trained technicians.

My Inspection 1 back in July was ~£460 from a well respected specialist. For the price you've been quoted I hope they'd wash it too. |

Would a 2011 not be under some kind of extended warranty i.e. insurance backed. In that case I think you'll need to check the policy terms as these warranties are not covered by Block Exemption. BMW AUC warranty dictated that the car had to be serviced at a main dealer. Things may have changed but best to check. RCV are in Staplehurst in the wilds of Kent. 2017 5.0 Autobiography Supercharged 2005 Merc SL350 2005 Disco HSE 2.7 oil burner |

Thanks all. I have just got home and have read Condition 12 in my Approved Warranty manual, as noted by pld118. Good news that I can go with a specialist should I so choose. It's amazing that there is such variation in servicing pricing. I'll definitely be shopping around! |

I'm not in any way standing up for the dealers, however I'd be interested in why you make this statement? |

Another tip Is to source the correct oils yourself, the dealers charge an arm and a leg for the fluids, buying the oil separate saves quite a few pennies

Very true, but you don't even have to use the main dealer at all. Just a VAT registered garage. Engine oil is the worst rip off from main dealers though, when you consider most of them will buy it in bulk drums, even more cheaply than you can source it in bottles. |
