Range Rover L322 Brake Lights Coming On With Engine Off

Range Rover L322 4.4 vogue Brake Lights Coming On With Engine Off in the night

Please help

I have a problem with my range rover brake lights , i drove it , parked it up and in the middle of the night
looked out the window the brake lights were on , both brake light are on and the one above the rear screen

i went out and opened and cloesed the locked the care, still did not turn off

checked all the fuses in the passenger side fuse box , all fine

i have to start the car and press brake for them to go off.

This has been happening for a couple days now

Went to check today , still on and when i went to start the car , the key would not turn in the ignition
took the key out and it finally started

Check for wet carpets, mine does that when it gets wet inside, especially the BCM which is in a hollow under the passenger seat, but check all over for wet... Pete

done a search and it appears it could be the brake switch or a faulty lcm.. ... - .- -.

yep, as Stan says, lots of things that can cause it just listing the free ones first, if carpets are damp on top they could be saturated underneath, they have a thick foam backing, do they just feel damp or can you get water out if you press hard??

I never fully got to the bottom of which bit getting wet caused it, I "think" it was the LCM which is up by the bonnet pull or the BCM under the passenger seat...

If you can switch them off by playing with the brake pedal whilst the ignition is still off then it's probably the switch...

Lots of things to work through... Pete
