Hi does anyone know of the best course of action in order to obtain past service history on my L322? I have contacted DVLA and the unhelpful woman told me to track down the previous owners?!!

If you car has had more than one previous owner, you can fill out a form from the DVLA and with a cheque for £5 you can get an envelope filled with photo copies off all the info the DVLA hold for it. So you'll get copies off all the old V5's any cherished plate transfers etc. Just say you're researching your cars history.

I asked the main dealer if they could give me a printout of the cars service history, but they refused on grounds of data protection. In spite of the fact the this dealer supplied the car originally, and have done every service since then. I have a fully stamped up service book, but I particularly wanted to see what warranty or other repair work had been carried out on the car. The only thing they would do was look at the service book and confirm that the entries were correct. I found this to be unhelpful and unnecessary. Surely they could have removed any personal details of the previous owner and still provided a printout? 2011 Vogue TDV8 4.4

Lots of firms are scared of breaching data protection. Mainly just down to ignorance of the rules, much like "health and safety" is thrown around about all sorts.

Yes, but it seems to be for cars built since 2013.

also, you could look around the car for stickers, or on the number plate, or even calling cards in glovebox etc. with indy garages, once a postcode of phone number is found, you are on to something at least. even the mot cert. might give you something.. old tax disc holder?.... tyre fitting invoice?
