Don't have the detachable towing arm though, the dealer probably kept it for sale like the venture cam.

Re removing the electrics is there a specific bung I would need to get or is it a make one yourself job??[/quote]

the tow bar 'hook' is normally stored in the boot right hand small storage area. lift lid on right it should be there, or a hole to fit it when you do find it.
a towbar, is a selling plus when its time to move it on. it doesnt show new buyer that you pull around a massive caravan and you've worn the car out etc.
just remove the receiver and 'bung' it.
lastly its stronger than the bumper, so it might save your life.

No need to bother removing the electrics.
Either get 2 black covers from towsure, about £2.
Or if they bother you that much unbolt them from the aperture and cable ties higher up out of view .
I know if I bought 1 with a towbar I'd prefer the electrics to be there also.

@ Geoff. You are correct ,just the rear exhaust hangers are exchanged Thumbs Up 2007 tdv8 se ,stornaway grey

I am a bit puzzled by this thread, on my car when fitting a towbar, which I did my self after guidance from here, I didn't remove this bit just the two arms that hold the exhausts and such in place.

Is it model specific or have I done it wrong?

It comes off attached to the plastic bumper cover, so you would have removed it, but put it back on again with the bumper cover afterwards.

Checked the boot for the Tow arm but it wasn't in the box. There was a black bung however so that's in place now and makes the whole thing look a lot better. Bit of paint on the Armature and the back box and will be nearly as good as new.

I like the idea of cable tying the electrics up as I just nearly gave myself a hernia getting the 20" full size spare tyre out the boot. Hope I never get a puncture with the weight of those things! Think I need a protein shake! Embarassed

Did you use the lifting device (for want of a better description) to remove the spare wheel? John

That's what I was referring to. Not tied to the spare wheel. Sits under it with a hook arrangement which is attached to the lower tailgate when in the closed position. Opening the tailgate lifts the spare up and onto it. Then slide off. Smile John

looking in the later handbook on topix it looks like they did. Don't see why it couldn't be retrofitted though.

except Ford took over Land Rover in 2000, although the L322 was largely developed under BMW, they'd actually sold off the Rover group 2 years before it's launch.

time line; (from memory)
1994 BMW buys the Rover group from BAe.
2000 BMW break up Rover Group, retaining Cowley, Swindon, the new mini, BMH and Longbridge Powertrain. Selling Longbridge assembly and MG (and a licence to the Rover name) to Phoenix for £10 and selling Solihull, Gaydon and Land-Rover to Ford.
2003ish BMW sell Longbridge Powertrain to MG-Rover
2005 Ford/Land-Rover use their preferential option to buy the 'Rover' name from BMW after the failure of MG-Rover group.
2008 Ford break up their Premier automotive group, selling Land Rover and Jaguar to Tata.

Ah I remember now that is indeed the case, I have two bits that I removed permanently but would have noticed that hefty thing lying around. You do need two people for about 10 minutes to do the heavy lifting. Geoff

Magic sponges arrived this morning so gave the seats a good going over with them and some leather cleaner rather than water and can vouch for the fact that they removed the years or grime and dirt giving a near new finish! Will still need a stain as there are some scuffs but overall a great cheap tip to clean the seats from axle! Thumbs Up
