Hi, noticed in the last day that on completing slow speed gentle stops, when braking, there is low humming or droning type sound. Dealer fitted new front pads and discs recently.

Wondering if it's connected to the nice warm weather.
Any ideas welcome, thanks

Mine also do that, even now after many thousands of miles.

Not sure what can cure it, seems aftermarket and OE pads and discs do it. Discovery 4 HSE

Yes, genuine. Main dealer fitted them during A.U pre sale inspection.

Mrs pld declares this noise is very much annoying her. Drove it last night and it is irritating. Only does it on slow speed slow down in last 2 or 3 seconds before the car hums to a halt. Mrs pld says it's a dry sound, can I not spray something on it!

Had it on the 4.2 as well. Try an Italian brake tune next time it happens  MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

This low speed braking humming noise is regular now. Returned car to dealer yesterday and would you Adam and Eve it, the noise did replicate in the presence of the Sales Manager who was surprised as in, that can't be right (it is loud!).

Brakes do work fine though (new front discs, pads and the brake hose recall been done).

Anyway, car left with dealer to try and get to the bottom of this and to resolve a few other snags...

i sometimes get that droning , mostly when slowing down from about 30 to 10mph....i'm pretty sure its my non-OE pads Ryan.. ... - .- -.

The noise goes right through you Stan... A noise as unpleasant to experience as that made when scratching fingernails down a blackboard!

The service receipt shows genuine LR pads just fitted. RRUK says his does it too and dealer couldn't resolve it.

mine aint that bad and if the radio is louder than 'old git' volume then you tend not to hear it at all...


i think the only way to solve this is to replace the pads [fronts?] with a new set, maybe not OE but the cheapest available and see if there is a difference.

or, take the pads out and clean the surface's with sand paper to rid of any glaze on them.. ... - .- -.

Ryan, in your first post you say the dealer fitted new pads & discs, above just pads. If they didn’t fit new discs, that could be your issue?
