mine is now doing it too.

Just come back from a trip to the south coast, all was fine when i left, I had had new discs and pads on a week, all was ok, but on the trip down they started to drone/squeal on the last 5mph of the stop.

When I fitted the pads (gen) they had a sticky 3m backing, so i didn't copper grease them as that would be counter intuitive, looks like this could be the problem, Im going to have them out and slip the back and see if it sorts the problem out. will have to wait though.... I'm more interested in the beer infront of me at the moment.... Very Happy Very Happy

think this could be the problem though as i used to grease the ones on the 3.6 and they rarely squealed. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Could be the same noise, not a squeal as such

Anyhoo I donned the overalls and can report that copper slip has sorted my problem! Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Cheers Mark, tbh I'm quite looking fwd to having a go myself if they don't sort it at main dealer. It's just that the car is back with them for the second time to have half a dozen snags, mainly minor cosmetic sorted. Getting well versed at driving the Evoque! 4.4TDV8 is a brilliant and dare I say reasonably frugal car though! Thumbs Up

One of the reasons I didn't put the slip on in the first instance was that the old pads didn't have any. And relied on the sticky back plastic. Seems to have worked though.

One thing I didn't notice when fitting was that the pads seem to have a 1 1/2" wide Channel in them under the middle piston, only a few mm deep, must be there to help bedding in, noticed it the same on all 4 pads when I lubed them up. Was there on the pads from new as it has a trace of the edge sealer they use in the channel. I wonder if one of the reasons the pads are droning is that this isn't worn in properly, and as they wear to a flat surface they will both stop droning and grip better as there is more friction material in contact with the disc! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

hi, shame my first post is in a problem thread.

I just picked up a 2011 Autobiography today and dealer had fitted new brakes and discs - had this exact problem on way home on M25. Its only happening for me in the range of 15mph and lower and was noisiest in the final stop from 5mph. Also was far worse in a queue on M25, plus its very hot today.

I noticed once I'd had a nice long run on motorway and brakes cooled down it didn't make the noise if I was braking exactly the same way when coming to rest.

It sounds like microphone feedback to me, at first i thought it was on the radio, i suspect its some kind of higher frequency vibration sound

Is the view its nothing to worry about and just let new pads bed down ?

Regarding ours it's nothing to worry about. I knew that anyway as the brakes were performing as they should. Dealer has had the car back and the issue replicated for the Master Tech who concurred brakes were A1. They took the brake pads out, cleaned them, copper greased them and gave us the car back today. So far so good, noise gone Thumbs Up

thanks for the reassurance, no need to run back to the main dealer then (its a bit of a trek)

I may pop into my local indie Land Rover shop and ask them nicely to whack a bit of grease on.

Tbh gotter, ours was having a few other snags dealt with and this was why I took it back. Was going to take the pads out and clean off/ regrease myself otherwise.

just taken it out now for 20 miles around small villages and country roads and no brake noise at all, even when I tried to replicate it deliberately.

fingers crossed it was a bedding in thing

5 days since getting the car back and the brakes have been quiet ever since. A clean and a touch of grease it seems was all that was needed. Thumbs Up
