Engine management fault

Hi
I have had the above error come up twice this week on the dash display but had no error lights and the power drops loads as well.
I have a 2008 TDV8 3.6.
No warning lights just the message on the dash display and it disappears when the engine is switched off and restarted.
Anyone with any ideas?

Brian L

I think the first thing is getting error codes read and see if there is anything that you can do with that. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

I will plug in my IID when the wife gets home and grab some codes.
Other than that the beast is running like a dream. 30+ mpg and flying.

Are the silicone turbo hoses any good?

Top turbo hose, is a good place to start. See the wiki for how to repair/replace. It's super easy.

Silicone hoses are generally better than the rubber ones but the rubber ones are pretty cheap and do last a good number of years, so replacing the top ones as a matter of course every 4 years or so should prevent another failure.

Edit:

http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic26843.html worth 5 mins to check for a split. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

look at the info here for codes P0101 & P023D - http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic34009.html . The other codes are probably as a result.

Seems that people on here have (possibly) already diagnosed the problem - split turbo hose Regards

Brian, it will takes you 5 minutes to check the hoses.

Do this before you investigate further.

Thumbs Up

Cheers guys
Would this also make the MAF's read different values.
MAF 1 about 20000
MAF 2 about 40000
Readings taken at tickover.

Yes I would think so as you have less air going past one maf.

I would swap it out/fix it then have a look at the readings. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Does wrapping the split hose in gaffer tape work? (it's surprisingly strong!)

Even if you have to re-wrap it every couple of days it'll do until you get time for a proper fix.
