The one at knee height pops out from the front, it just needs a bit of gentle persuasion with a fine screwdriver or similar. Just be careful now to damage the surround. I took the side panels off to try and do mine but you can't get at that from the side.

Many thanks, yes I tried to take the side panel off, on the drivers side, but thought that I would ask before I made a hash of it. I am not sure if it is the same on all L322's but the shin airbag is in the same panel. 2010 5.0 SC Autobiography |

In case it helps someone else, the bulb on the passenger side is actually changed in the same way as the drivers side, it just pops out, well certainly on the 2010 model. This is what it looks like.
