New Owner Some Questions..

Picked up my new (2003) FFRR Vogue today.

Got a reasonable deal on it, so was expecting a few issues.

Some questions for you guys:

1) The parking sensors to the rear dont work 100%. They seem to stick on at full "beep". I.e no break between the beep, just one long tone. Tried it a few times and when it sticks on it sticks on all the time - so if you go into D or N or P they still stay on... hmm... ign off, ign on, cleared. But next time you reverse they will stick on again. Any suggestions?!

2) NS wing mirror is making some very bad (grinding) noises! Sounds like the gears might have gone. Common fault? I guess its not cheap to fix..... Whistle

3) Tyre Pressures. What do you guys run? Its on 20s. I have them at 36 all round at the moment. They were on 33 all round, seemed a bit soft for me...

4) Looks like the OS brake calliper is seized. Ordered a new one today, any precautions when changing a calliper? I am fairly handy with a spanner but not familiar with RR.

Thanks!!!

Parking Sensor - possibly one is damaged or could be dirty/full of water if the car has been pressure washed too vigorously.

Tyre pressures for each size of tyre should be on a sticker on the driver's door frame 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

I have put my ear to each of the sensors... its clicking away so I guess it might be the water issue.

Is it simple to remove them?

like TIM says ..if the dealer pressure washed it before you picked it up then thats your cause..i would hold tight for a week or two and see if the water evaporates ... ... - .- -.

Sneak the wife's hairdryer out to the garage, that speeds up the drying process. Amazingly useful auto-tools are hairdryers, far more useful than their original use suggests Laughing 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

i changed both front calipers last month, really easy, clamp flexible hose, remove caliper remove hose, then fit new one in reverse order, i bled the calipers using an eazibleed kit, dont know if thats a brand that you have in the uk or not but it was quite cheap and did the job great, about half an hour each side with new discs and pads 2002 td6 vogue, 06 supercharged facelift

Thanks chaps. Looks easy to replace then so that should be ok.

I am sure I will be back shortly with more questions!

In the mean time, any advice re the N/S mirror - or should I just bite the bullet and take it into LR?

I would try and find a used one from a warranted breakers yard, or just buy the part new from LR - can't be that hard to replace the broken one.

By the way - Welcome red_sir Thumbs Up

Caliper change done. Seems ok now Smile

Wing mirror... hmmm.

The 2 lugs that hold the motor into the casing have broken. This is allowing the worm drive to slip and thats causing the problem.

LR are telling me they do the motor at £50+vat. Might give that a go - but first going to see if I can sort something.

One word of warning - the mirror glass is not very strong! I tried to remove the glass and managed to put a big crack in it. LR are telling me £240+vat for a new mirror glass.... Oh.

Never try to replace the mirror glass yourself on any of the more recent LR cars - the glass always cracks/breaks - leave it to a dealership as they have a special tool for the job (and if they break the mirror it costs the dealer not you!)

Try these guys for a recylced complete mirror unit for a lot less http://www.cws4x4.co.uk quite a few guys off the RRSport forums have been able to get complete mirror units from them 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

Yep lesson learnt now!

I called the (thanks) but no joy.

As for the mirror glass... I guess its expensive due to it being chromatic (sic?).

Anyone know anywhere that I can get this cheaper than LR?
