Car is back at dealer for a little work.

Rear arch showed a little corrosion either side. Common issue I believe so it is being sorted at present.
New tyre on the spare as tread below LR approved depth.
Brake hose recall.

Dealer dropped of a Disco Sport. Looks decent. HSE Lux so good spec. SWMBO says it is perfect. Better in almost every way compared to our L322 AB...... I have ordered a drugs test on her and psychological assessments.

The car seems nice but £45k worth. I think not. Ride is not in the same league as the FFRR. Seats are cooled/heated but nowhere near as good comfort wise as the FFRR. Seat backs are hard plastic and the base sides are fabric not leather.

No rear rear air vents. There are 2 little ones on the B pillar but none in the centre console to blow air around. I tried the park assist... nice feature but the mrs tried it 3 times and it never really worked properly. One time it tried to perpendicular park straight into another parked car.

You really notice the lack of air suspension as you can feel a lot more of the road and not in a good way. Every bump can be felt. Not jarring or anything like that but the road surface definitely more noticeable. Engine noise heavily intrudes into the cockpit.

Shame really as I quite like the FL2 for what it was and it had decent spec. There seems to be a bit of cost cutting in this car in a bad way and I really think this car should have been a little bit better for the money.

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT is that the FL2 HSE had armrests on the seats. This doesn't and there is no option for them.

Well I've had a crack at getting the car done today. Unfortunately the weather has been off and on but got a fair bit done.

Previously I had the wheels refurbished and had Gtechniq C5 applied to them when I got them back. Was my first attempt at properly looking after my car. The C5 has been great. Mostly the dirt blasts off with a soak in the snow foam and a little wipe after. Unfortunately the discs/pads are massive as the car is rather heavy so brake dust is constantly building up inside the rim that doesn't blast off.

Today my process was.
Power wash rinse,
Snow foam,
Rinse,
2 bucket hand wash bodywork,
Rinse,
Gtechniq W6 fall out remover on wheels and lower bodywork,
Rinse,
Clay bodywork,
Rinse.

Managed to use Gtechniq P1 on the bonnet and then C2 on the bonnet then the rain started again so gave up for the day.

Will try to complete it on Thursday. Unfortunately being a massive car it takes a while.
The clay process had me a little scared as i was unsure if I was applying the correct pressure and the feeling using it is very weird especially when it collects dirt from the car. I could actually feel the bodywork was softer through the clay.

I've applied C2 to get me through the winter and in spring will look at getting it into a shop as there is a little orange peel on the rear panel and paintwork probably needs correcting then C1 Exo etc.

You'll need to scrub the wheels and get them spotless first.
Then coat in C5 and there is almost no scrubbing thereafter.

As long as I wash it once a week the dirt blasts off after a soak in snow foam and a wipe with a cloth.
The W6 I use now and again to clean the inside of the wheels every few weeks.

Got a new windscreen eventually fitted today.
10 weeks from them initially coming out to look at a chip that had cracked. Turned up 3 times with the wrong glass but today he turned up with genuine LR branded glass.

Took the opportunity to apply the Gtechniq to the screen as it was new and spotless.
Then decided to was the whole car and apply Gtechniq to the body work.

Only issue I noticed today as it was a little hot when I was finishing the car and as I was going to go out soon I decided to start it and run the AC to cool the car.
There it a silver aircon pipe at the top between the engine and the radiator. On the left side looking at it (driver side) where the pipe drops to a lower part in the engine and there is a joint there was water coming out of it. Like a little spray coming out and water running down. Will take a pic tomorrow and see it it is doing the same.

Also drove about 2 miles and there was smoke coming from the passenger side tailpipe. Whist sat at lights I noticed it. Revd it a little and a large cloud came out then back to normal.
Wonder if this is related to the manifold sensor and the dpf issue?

Booked in with local LR dealer next week to address a few issues.

Aircon pipe suspect leak.
DPF issues (manifold sensor).
Heated steering wheel to get swapped.
Door frame corrosion. On all 4 doors across the top.
Drivers seat back doesn't cool.

Other than these little niggles got to say the car is amazing. Absolutely love being in it and driving it. Really has got to be one of the best cars I've owned.

Hi,

My car is black and in dire need of some TLC on the paint work. You have inspired me to do something about it! However I can not get clay bars and the correct polish/waxes here so am planning on my next trip to the UK or Australia to get all that sort of stuff.

You have a great looking vehicle and yes they are a joy to drive.

Did you get to the bottom of your smoke issues?

Cheers, Jerry

I'm assuming at the minute the smoke issue is the DPF issue with the faulty manifold sensor over fuelling the car.

Just seen the shipping costs to send Gtechniq products to you and it was astronomical.

I trust it is not too serious.

Thanks for making the effort and yes for some reason, Royal Mail is outrageous to here. I just dont understand why when we have so many airlines flying here.

I'm heading to Australia at the end of the month so intend to get some stuff there, however I've never seen Gtechniq but having said that, need to look it up on the net.

Clay bar seems the way to go.

Cheers, Jerry THIS WRECKAGE
