After waiting over a month for OE glass, getting a call this morning because it had been delivered to the wrong place, so could I wait until this afternoon. They turn up with .... you guessed it : OEM.

What's wrong with OEM? It will be identical to the LR one - that's what OEM means, the manufacturer who originally supplied to land-rover.

There are some 'genuine' LR windscreens which have the Land Rover emblem lasered off, and overlaid with an opaque black Pilkington logo; even manufacturer markings on any of the hardware will be obliterated. In many cases, these screens have been backed by the OEM due to a quality issue, or stock allocation. Commercial bureaucracy restricts the aftermarket distributors from selling them as OE. LR stock levels are extremely low/zero. I know because I look after three dealerships - as well as retail customers - and getting hold of windscreens has gone from difficult to impossible. |

My windscreen developed a crack a month or so ago. As the car is less than 3 years old, I can specify a LR part. I have been waiting.

I've just been watching "Watch Dog" on the Beeb and Autoglass will never get with in a mile of my vehicle. |

Stay away from Autoglass, they took 2 attempts to get my screen right, never called me to let me know they brought wrong one, tried to rebook me from 18th June to 9th July, wouldn't come to my city centre address. (that's only half the complaint I have logged with them)

I had my screen replaced by Autoglass. I went to their workshop. They said that for higher value vehicles (such as RRs) they would recommend that as doing the work at the roadside or client premises increases the risk of problems such as debris or rain blowing in to the fitting area. I was glad that the work was done at their workshop, clearly the best place for it. The screen was the same as supplied by Pilkington to the Solihull factory. I am happy with it. Everything (heating, rain sensing, wipers) works as before and there are no leaks, noises or other problems. The work took slightly longer than I had expected, but I thought it was done well and tidily enough, and better to take longer and get it right. Only Range Rovers since 1988 |
