Front CV Gaiter

The front n/s CV gaiter has detached from the hub end. I do not recall seeing any form of clip or strap and checked the other side: no strap or clip three either.

I have looked on the forum and the consensus appears to be to use a cable tie. Therefore, I propose to clear our what old grease I can from the inside of the gaiter and replace with new stuff before strapping the gaiter back down with a cable tie. There does not appear to be any damage to the gaiter. Last job will be to scrape all the black grease that has been splattered across the underside.

Any other thoughts/suggestions? 2014 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography & 2015 3.0SDV6 HSE Lux Discovery 4

The inner clip disappeared from mine. I replaced it with a metal clip from a well know online auction site with the help of the correct pliers.

the 'proper' metal clips are pigs. Plastic cable ties normally last as long as the boot, but you can buy stainless steel cable ties, which are far superior to the metal clips.

check it hasn't gone anywhere near your brakes, i needed up with new discs because of grease from either a split ball joint gaiter or when the CV boot went south. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Stainless steel cable ties ordered. Appear yo have avoided brake contamination thankfully. On inspection this evening, I found the originally cable ties which had ended up inside the gaitor. Presumably, it became loose and when the gaitor came off, the cable tie worked itself inside. 2014 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography & 2015 3.0SDV6 HSE Lux Discovery 4
