New Zealand 2010 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Galway Green

Thanks Craig. Few small niggles to sort out but a very good car considering age and mileage. This one has seen regular maintenance, a rarity in Malaysia apparently !!! MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Welcome to the club, I just nabbed a W140 S280 as well last week! Smile
Agreed it's rather slow, but oh-so comfy and has a v good aircon system (important for Malaysia).
Happy Motoring Thumbs Up

Wow, that's a higher price for an older car than we pay here in UK. That RM20000 converts to £3400. And here that buys you a much newer one. to me, the UK always seems to have very cheap older cars, they sort of fall off a cliff, as they go over about 8-10 years..and as such certain popular overseas taxi models are bought up for peanuts, (and often stolen) and broken for parts, and shipped out in very full shipping containers. However, if you search for a similar year car in UK, you might pick one up under £1000 and be very surprised how good it is. Though the dreaded merc rust of the era, will be thoroughly showing on UK cars. But whatever you pay, the merc s class, is a behemoth of a car, effortless cruising, top of the tree luxuries. And a lovely bonnet badge to look at whilst you waft along.

Yeah, I know, prices are still high even for old bangers !! I got the price down to 12950 but still more than a UK version indeed. But not a trace of rust and in very good condition for the others I have seen for similar and higher asking prices Wink. It seems the previous owner quite liked me (according to my Chinese Canadian friend who helped with translating etc.) so that may have helped Wink.

Sofar the niggles are really minor.

Some converter thingy in the stereo was dying (crackling/muting etc.) I found it last night, first thought it was the radio itself so was in the process of installing one I had lying around anyway. So good sound but only on front speakers, seems no wiring to rear speakers. Something for later.

Driver seat, I think the mechanisms need to be cleaned up because not all moves and the door switch is crappy (second hand one on the way). So I can't adjust it to my liking, close but not enough. Something to sort out.

Internal rear view mirror is looseish so moving too much and a crack in the infrared remote housing. Will sort that out later.

New housing needed for the key fob (it is working fine just a crappy housing).

Window wiper driver side completely gone so urgently need a new one but nowhere in store, so waiting.

Decided to change ATF and filter although it changes gear very well, just one of those things that get forgotten a lot.

Central locking is not working too well. It locks all doors but does not unlock the driver side doors. I plan to clean up all the mechanisms to start with, to see if that makes a difference.

The driver door soft close is not working, will open that up as well and probably order a second hand replacement from the UK (good shop on EBay).

The car has been resprayed (was silver) to metallic black and looks nice (not a brilliant paint job but good enough) and they forgot/neglected to put the top windscreen rubber and rear window rubbers back. So I just ordered new ones.

Oh and the left headlight didn't work due to manually twisted wiring and tape not working well (Radio had some of that as well, that is now properly sorted since last night).

I think it is in great condition for a 19 old car, much better than any others I have seen here including the Japanese (although I would have loved to get the Legend at 7000 or 7500 !!!).

Anyway, it drives like a dream. Much nicer than anything else of the era including a P38 I guess and a lot cheaper as well !

Will keep you posted on any major happenings. But I still hope to get the FFRR to here soonest Wink. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

I really like Mercedes from this era - everyone says that they are the last of the "properly built" Mercs.

Always been a fan of the W124 Series Coupes and Convertibles Thumbs Up

Hey CeeGee, that is exactly why I chose it, because of that reputation. And it shows in the car. It has done 268k and is running really well Smile.

I love the W124 coupes and convertibles as well Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

I think you'll enjoy it, the 'small-time African dictator' vibe will change your driving style too; I plan to add diplomatic flags for driving in Edinburgh, as my flat there is in the embassy district and hope to escape parking fines through diplomatic immunity! Laughing

This is true, for less than half that price my car is immaculate FMBSH, 67k from new, one owner! Fewer toys on mine though!

There is a touch of the usual wing rust on one corner, but nothing compared to my original Mini which is presently in at the specialists for another four figure restructuring of the undercarriage Censored (and it's a nice one)!
Either way, I love a bit of UK depreciation Cool

Edit also Ebajema, you need the proper grille/bonnet emblem tout de suite!
