Occasional power loss after long drives 4.4 (petrol v8)

Hi guys,
Anyone ever experience power loss after a long drive? Usually sorts itself out after switching off then back on after a few minutes. Car's a 2004 v8.

Cheers!

I had similar on a Mini some years back. Turned out to be a blocked breather in the petrol tank. Try releasing the petrol cap after a long drive and listen for the air rushing in. You may be getting a partial vacuum in the tank.

if you are talking about engine power loss, then maybe your fuel pump is low on pump pressure. there are a few threads on this, sometimes, it just has no 'pedal power' other times it will (when cranking) -spin over and not start.
if its electrical power loss, then you are at the mercy of the gremlin virus..

most likely fuel pump.
Thats how they make themselves know to the public... Mr. Green

Sitting in the tank, it is a bit of a job to get at them, but once out you can
fit a new pump into the housing.

You need a Pierburg Pump for BMW/Land Rover part no: 7.50138.00.0
You might even find them at Amazon.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys.

I'll go through each possibility and hopefully cure the issue. Thumbs Up
