how about a thread revive ha ha
Kezbo do you still have a working ac system or did you find out you really aren't supposed to have the 9.5V constant? I did the same as you and put in a new ac compressor but in just a month it has burnt up the clutch already and won't engage even when giving it 12-14v.

Weejock said that his system has only a few millivolt across the wires where as you had 9.5V but his was working just fine and I don't think it's do to a bad clutch because yours (kezbo) was still having 9.5V even with the new clutch meaning a good coil.

I am just basically trying to figure out if the 9.5v is causing the clutch to engage half way and burning up the clutch (which I think it is) and if I need to figure out what's causing the 9.5v supply and fix that.

Yes my AC still works nicely.

I found that the compressor clutch wouldn't engage at 9.5v. If you supply 12v using a test wire to yours does the clutch engage (it should be 12v at the clutch when on)?

Have you got pressure in the system? In the end I tested my pressure switch and found that was where the fault lay.

I have supplied 12v and it doesn't engage, I will probably get a new hose piece with the sensor this go around as well though I know it's in ok order but just want to be sure it will stay working once it's working. I get open circuit when I test the coil on the compressor, as in I get no Ohm reading at all which leads me to believe that it is bad, sad considering the compressor is less than a month old.

Surely the compressor is under warranty?

yes are they are sending a brand new unit (not even just a reman) I just don't want the 9-10v to burn out the clutch on this one if that's what happened, bot my old original and reman compressor didn't give me an ohm reading at all on the coil which is why I'm thinking the voltage is frying the compressor
