What sort of perverted Forum is this??? It's "bébéchoon", ackcherly, with accents. 'Steve' to my chums. 20 years ownership of Solihull products, ALL GONE NOW, sniff! Current motor: Suzuki S-Cross 4WD auto, 1.4 petrol. Oh so reliable! 7 years now and no problems. Oh, all right then, a leaking shocker replaced under guarantee. I spotted this on mine last week when i was washing. it had been repainted before due to rust and the paint was starting to flake and could see the orange underneath. This area is far to exposed to just have standard paint and lacquer, it docent stand a chance against the stone chips and abuse it gets. As standard on BMWs on the inner side of the wheel arch it is coated with stone guard ( very thick rubber like paint often seen on car sills ) . so thats what i done with mine, buffed back the rust which really wasn't bad just surface rust then acid etched, primed then blasted it with stone guard through a shoots gun aresol stone guard could be used but its nowhere near as thick. i just masked off to the edge line. see how it goes i was going to put the rubber strips on but to be honest i don't see anything coming through the stone guard. It does seem to be a design flaw really. The plastic wheel arch liners should have be designed so they they covered this area, like they do on many cars, this would also stop the mud from getting behind that lip too. |

mine too, I got a mini grinder on them, took back to bare metal, special primer and hand painted smooth silver hammerite which is a near perfect match on my Zermatt silver, looks quite respectable and if it does it again in the future I will just repaint |

Mine is also rusty. What I'm going to do it grind back with a flapper wheel, treat with rust treated then paint in epoxy mastic, then stone chip followed by a coat of black Hammerite. I can't see much getting through that lot. 2004 RR 4.4 V8 Autobiography |
