2008 TD gearbox fault

Very occasionally my My 2008 V8TD had a rough gear change at ow speed. Normally completely smooth but if I have to take off again after a gentle slow down I sometimes get a bit of a ban as it drops into its chose gear,(which is probably first I guess)

Is this a known thing, or do I just need to leave it with the garage?

Thanks James

How many miles has it done? Sounds like it needs an oil and filter change.... Pete

Thanks Pete. 64k. I think well do an oil and filter change anyway as a start point

Sounds like the 2-1 rollout shift wich seems to be an issue on the 6 speed ZF transmission. If you Google that or 2-1 thud etc you will find its talked about on bmw forums as well.

As above I would recommend gearbox service. That solved this problem. For me anyway Thumbs Up Range Rover Vogue 2006 4.4 AJV8 | Buckingham Blue | Parchment Leather | Supercharged Grill+Side Vents | CA02 HEY ( NOT 02 PLATE )

Cool thanks chaps. Does it cause damage or is it just a bit annoying? I.e do I need to rush to get it fixed?

Not sure but don't imagine it will do the box any favours the way it slams into 1st. I found my driving adjusted to avoid it. When you know its coming ie pulling up to a junction etc just be very gentle on the throttle when pulling away and it sometimes won't drop to first but will stay in second or what I also did was put it in manual if your Coming up to a junction or round about. Range Rover Vogue 2006 4.4 AJV8 | Buckingham Blue | Parchment Leather | Supercharged Grill+Side Vents | CA02 HEY ( NOT 02 PLATE )
