Very occasionally my My 2008 V8TD had a rough gear change at ow speed. Normally completely smooth but if I have to take off again after a gentle slow down I sometimes get a bit of a ban as it drops into its chose gear,(which is probably first I guess)

Is this a known thing, or do I just need to leave it with the garage?

How many miles has it done? Sounds like it needs an oil and filter change.... Pete

Sounds like the 2-1 rollout shift wich seems to be an issue on the 6 speed ZF transmission. If you Google that or 2-1 thud etc you will find its talked about on bmw forums as well.

Not sure but don't imagine it will do the box any favours the way it slams into 1st. I found my driving adjusted to avoid it.
