It doesn't come on when the aircon is switched on, it comes on when the aircon refrigerant in the condenser gets too hot.... As I said I've never heard mine come on so it would have to be very very hot for it to come on for that, had mine come on when the engine temp got hot, but that was above 120deg C when the rad was blocked....
