BT Broadband

The downside to living in a sleepy village is the lack of a decent broadband connection. The best I have ever had is downloads of 1 to 1.5 Mbps, maybe nudging 2Mbps on a very good day.
Upload? Don't ask - 0.3 to 0.7Mbps.
When I wanted to upload my pictures and MP3s to Dropbox my PC calculated that it would take 11 months. Shocked

I have just had a card from BT to say that "Fibre is here!" and voila, I am finally now in the 21st century!

I am paying handsomely for the privilege mind you! 2006 4.2 SC

same here, out in the sticks with a pretty slow connection.

have just spent days wondering why it had started to crawl along at 0.5mbps, and after blaming it on BT i put the old home hub on and it seemed to improve. Finally tracked it down to the mac trying to download all of the photos off the cloud eating up all of the bandwidth. So stopped that and put my super router back on and I'm back up to the heady heights of 2.9Mbps...... which is as fast as i can get it to go...... and thats tweeted

Keep checking on the openreach fibre site and we are still in the exploring possibilities stage, even though our cabinet is active we are too far from it for fibre to make any appreciable difference to the service. They would have to lay new fibre all the way to the village to make it better Big Cry There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Likewise, local Exchange is digital, but laying fibre into the road outside and then coax into the house is probably a good way off. Maybe 4G will beat it Rolling Eyes SDV8 AB MY 2019

4g is faster on the main road in the village, but I live in a signal black spot as well and have an EE femtocell connected to the router to give me any mobile signal! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

"Open Mike Night " sounded like a lot of fun until i found out i was going to an Autopsy

^^ get a better router. I use a Billion Bipac 7800DXL, and on my line it is quite a lot faster than the standard BT router, which at best will give about 2.1mbps. You can also play with the SNR settings quite easily to try and maximise the speed. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

We struggled with 0.25Mbps down and effectively 0 up until a nice kind local gent started his own ISP and we now get 15Mbps+ via wireless link from nearest town with a fibre connection! www.marykirk.com

Needless to say he gets a few pints bought for him down the local! '08 Audi S6 Avant 5.2 V10 with Milltek non-resonated. Vrrrrrrmmmmmph
