The downside to living in a sleepy village is the lack of a decent broadband connection. The best I have ever had is downloads of 1 to 1.5 Mbps, maybe nudging 2Mbps on a very good day.

Likewise, local Exchange is digital, but laying fibre into the road outside and then coax into the house is probably a good way off. Maybe 4G will beat it SDV8 AB MY 2019

4g is faster on the main road in the village, but I live in a signal black spot as well and have an EE femtocell connected to the router to give me any mobile signal! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

^^ get a better router. I use a Billion Bipac 7800DXL, and on my line it is quite a lot faster than the standard BT router, which at best will give about 2.1mbps. You can also play with the SNR settings quite easily to try and maximise the speed. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

We struggled with 0.25Mbps down and effectively 0 up until a nice kind local gent started his own ISP and we now get 15Mbps+ via wireless link from nearest town with a fibre connection! www.marykirk.com
