I bought some rubber o ring material off eBay , if you slide one end into the notched cut out it holds really well and the end that fits into the cap I heated up with a lighter and pushed it into the cap so it splays out inside and then can't come back out. I can look up what I used |

In my mod the drive belt eventually perishes with the petrol fumes, might be OK on a diesel - don't know. So I now use a part of a lanyard that half the working population seem to have round their neck with passes or some such dangling on the end. Its cloth - so far so good.

Stupid question of the day: Does the old retainer just pull out of the top of the filler cap? I don't want to leave anything stuck inside. 2012 5.0L S/C

The plastic cover of the fuel cap pops off. Under the top is a spring. Under that is the strap. I pushed it out using a screw driver. ______________________________

I did a few months ago when I fixed mine. Then I saw the price and fixed it with a short piece of heatshrink tubing instead. £15? They're having a laugh! 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate
