tailgate straps

so we went to a retail park yesterday and it was manic with peeps and cars all over the place..we decided to treat ourselves to a kfc lunchbox each so said boxes were purchased and as expected the inside and outside seating of this kfc was very busy so back to the FF and we put the tailgate down and sat on it enjoying our munchies much to the amusement of passing cars and the peeps inside kfc..

my point is , please check your tailgate straps as they do rust and break when weight is put on them...they are very easy to replace and not that expensive..

have a read of this thread,

I think the original (1970's) Range Rover had hinged flat metal check rods, much more robust.

I did mine with the damped upgrade. The old ones were foooooked! Very rusty indeed. I filled the grommets with grease to stop it happening again.

Steve You remind me of a young me, not much younger mind, perhaps even a little older!

If I do the damped upgrade I guess I only need to buy one plus the kit.

Is the damped thingy worth doing? Its gone up quite a bit!

the dampener only lets the tailgate down slowly, it doesnt support it...so you do need two tailgate straps..

Dan is doing a special price for two in the group buy section... ... - .- -.

Mine doesn't - I think it was standard at 2011.5

I thought the kit had a modified strap?
