Intermittant right speaker channel

Hi all,

Just started happening, the right speaker channel stops working (goes quiet). Left seems OK as does the bass unit (woofer?) in the boot.

It is a 2004 car, so before the touchscreen. I have the TV screen (analog) option and a DSP unit (whatever that is - but I seem to recall its optional)

Is there a good place to start tracking this fault down?

Thanks in advance

Go to the DSP unit and remove the plug on the top nearest to the centre of the car and look for corrosion in the plug and the socket on top of the DSP.
Clean if required and see what happens.
Also try wiggling that plug in situ with the radio on and see what happens.
I had a bad connection in that socket which caused one channel to go down, cleaning with contact cleaner solved it.

Thanks Nicedayforit,

I'll try that later today when I can get it in the garage (raining here!)

How do I identify the DSP unit - is it in the boot on the LHS behind the removeable panel? Which box is it?

The big black box nearest the back of the car with 3 plugs on the top.
Yes I can see Criffel's getting a bit wet at the moment. Thumbs Up

Tried that,

No Joy,

Thanks though.

I guess I'll have to try and get to the back of the head unit. It does seem like a bad connection somewhere. 2004 4.4 V8 Vogue
