Just bought a TDV8 - thinking of getting a remap

Hi all, I thought I would give RR a go as my latest car. It will be for mixed driving but a fair bit of motorway. Google gives lots of results for remap so and chipping the 3.6tdv8 but most are from a few years back when the 322 was the latest model.

What is the general thoughts now about who is good and who to avoid?

Is it worth doing at all on an 80,000 mile car?

Based in Southampton so DMS are local, mare they good or just expensive?

From personal experience, I would only choose a company who specialises in tuning LR models, such as Alive Tuning Thumbs Up

There's plenty of remap threads

I went with BAS and was very happy with them (also a LR specialist)

DMS were always pretty good for BMWs etc.

The LR go to guy seems to be Pete Bell at Bell auto services. Have a search, he seems to know his stuff, see quite a bit about him on here and on the disco forums. Not remapped my cars as i don't feel they need more power TBH, but each to his own.

EDIT......Alistair beat me while i was typing. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I did search on here before posting, honest. Even on your search results the BAS thread seems to be the only 322 specific thread.

I will search some more but was wondering if there was any bad news that only appeared after long term use. Everyone seems to agree that a remap is a good idea. I am also interested to know of the land rovers specialist people recommend as most my other cars have been German or Japanese so I am not up on the RR community and who is good etc.

Sorry to appear a dumb newbie but I am trying to learn

Cheers

Just looked at the BAS site and a trip to York from Southampton for half a day for fitting isn't great. One of the reasons DMS are tempting - any views on their work on RR?

BAS do a tool, they post it to you, you plug it in and download the map to the tool, then email it over. They change it to suit and then email it back to you.

This then get put onto the OBD tool and uploaded into the car. Can be done at home.

If you email Pete he will let you know which is the best solution for you, I have asked him the same question about my Disco in the past and you get a response pretty quickly, obviously no commitment to buy.

https://secure.bellautoservices.co.uk/stor...3-6l-tdv8/ done via a tool like this. there is a RR sport one and a FFRR one. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I considered this too. Pete (BAS) is maybe one of a handful you'd want to trust with this kind of stuff. Not just a 'load a map' dot com business.

It's no slouch....but a few of us have flet the itch to do it Thumbs Up Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

Or if you're going to buy an IID Tool, then BAS also supply a remap via that.

Another potentially good thing about the BAS method, is that you can swap between the standard map & the new map whenever you want to.

I've not heard any issues with remapping the TDV8

From what I've seen over the past few years there havent been many problems specific to the remap. Obviously there are the issues that some get with turbos etc on the 3.6, however these are the exception in general, and aren't specific to cars with maps. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I had 2 3.6L, both remapped with B.A.S and they were excellent. I only went for the 4.4L for the looks and 8 Speed gearbox, as the tuned 3.6L and a stock 4.4L TDV8 performances feel comparable! Thumbs Up

Had the BAS remap for my previous FF. it had done 10000 miles with it, until I sold it, without any issues.

It takes about 2mins to change maps with the IIDTool. Regards
