2010 key refurb

Mentioned before on here I know but wanted to share my refurb results for the 2010 smart key. The casing cost £6 from a main dealer Shocked did both. Really easy to do, the only semi difficult part was removing the sliding clip with the spring on it (used a tiny plastic pry bar). I'm really anal with the state of my keys so very happy with this. Thumbs Up

Nice - Mine look a bit worse for wear as the sides keep coming apart from the body.

Are they just pull out and push on fit hoppy (front and back face) and from what you said I guess you don't have to completely dismantle the whole key Ash

Did my disco ones a while back, 10 mins for first key 5 mins for second! Easy peasy if you take your time. Literally the case is a plastic shell round the electronics and key.

Having the replacements to hand shows how they come apart! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Take out the battery compartment then prise apart. You see how it goes together when you get the new one. As I say, just the clip with the spring on it need some time. The internal electronic part just drops out and drops in. Did the second one in less than five mins. My Previous RR's!

Following the advice on this thread I refurbed my key today.

I'm not the best at fiddly jobs but it went ok, the small spring popped out and I had to open up my spare key to use as a reference point to make sure all the small parts went back in the right place.

Before and after below, the previous owner had somehow managed to have the rubber come off the key and then use a gallon of super glue to reattach it.

What do you do to your keys to get them in such a state!!!

My disco 3 had done 170k miles and the key for that still looked like new and it hadn't lead an easy life!

Not guilty!

I can only assume the previous owner allowed a child or small animal to use it as a pacifier. 2010 4.4 tdv8 - black / ivory

I think they may have improved the design (or at least the adhesive!) with the new one. Feels a bit more substantial. My Previous RR's!
