ciggy lighter socket

i've brought a gps speed camera alert thingy and i would like to use either the ciggy socket by the gearshift or the one in the cuby box but, i'd like the alert thingy to go of with the ignition..do any of these sockets do that or if not any ideas... ... - .- -.

The one by the gearstick turns off with the ignition. Depending on year you then get cubbybox and boot live for ever, or cubby box and boot live for 10 mins with car open and OFF if locked, or no power at all when ignition off.....fun eh? Land Rover Addict

There is on my 2010 - I don't think there is on the touch-screen pre-2010. Like I say, at least 3 different "setups", my first was ALL OFF with no key. My second (2006) was boot and cubby LIVE at all times, and this one 2010, is cubby/boot on for 10 mins unless car locked - then no power.

There is some mention of it in the handbook as I recall, for at least the touchscreen and the 2010. Land Rover Addict

if you have the large type cup holder, pull it smartly up. You will find underneath it several live feeds. On my old FFRR I fitted my Radar Detector to one of these with a scotchlock so that it goes off with the ignition. Might need to mess about with a bulb holder on a couple of wires till you find a power source that goes off with the ignition.

I posted on this on an earlier thread - might turn it up if you do a search on power source or speed detectors etc.

yes thats it, lift out the ash tray, and you are left with a cup holder, just grab hold of it and pull it up and out smartly
