After market reversing camera?

Been thinking about buying an ebay reversing camera
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CCD-Rear-View-Re...3a6e50b3ad

Appreciate its for the sport. My 2005 isn't fitted with one, does that mean there is no loom\fitting and i'm waisting my time?

Saw this WIKI entry which could help me, assuming the bits are there..

That one won't fit in the licence plate fitting.

You might need the video lead from toysformycar

But not sure of the wiring to make it work when you go into reverse.

Check my carpc project thread. I fitted one like this.

aftermarket camera

I have a aftermarket reversing camera (the camera sits next to the rear wiper but unless i tell people its there they dont see it as the camera is so small!) (about x3 times smaller than the standard one) which i picked up for £17 from lightinthebox.com and then had it fitted by installers as I wanted it to look and be installed like it came with the car!! the install cost £60 so 3 times more than the camera but they soldered connections for a propper fit and i bought the cable with reversing camera input from toysinyourcar £35 job done the only 2002 Vogue i know with reversing camera CCD with night vison very good camera! Hey Neil,

The standard camera goes thru the grommet into the body of the car above the head lining it then loops round to the right and down the D pillar into the area behind the right cubby hole.

Nothing to stop you routing a more direct way to the front screen.

Good luck. Hoping to get my factory cam sorted and do write up this weekend!

Thumbs Up

Hi Cliffy
No its a very tight fit trying to route the cable the way you have said I got mine installed as i just could not be bothered with all the hassle! cost £60 job done they cut the end off then treaded it through the hole in spolier and then soldered the ends back on and its a very nice and neat job they did

If you have a vogue all your electronics are in the boot on left hand side so no point routing anywhere else!!
if HSE or SE then yes you will have to route cable all the way to front of you RR
I would also say the cable that comes with the camera proberly isn't long enough (power cable that is!!) so if doing it yourself make sure you measure out the cable first before as nothing worse than finding out half way through!! A Rangerover is for life not just for christmas

iv bought a reverse camera (number plate one) cheap on flea bay but good. it tilts to an angle of your choice and good picture at night too. Iv fitted this to a gvif interface and the camera comes on when ever i put car in reverse.

benefit of gvif interface you can also add 3 other AV devices to it. Range rover td6 54 reg touch screen

tanertimur was it 1) how cheap for the camera and interface and 2) easy fitting for a non-electrician? 2007 3.0L Diesel VW Touareg SE

Could someone give a little detail as to the replacement of the original reversing camera as I get nervous that it might be fibre optic wiring from it? Basically what is involved in replacement without rewiring right back to one of the boxes in the rear left by the tv tuner etc? In fact which box is it!?
Basically can someone please just do mine while I am in bed and so i dont need to!
Cheers guys

not sure what year your car is but up 2010 they are a standard camera 12v 2pin plug with a coaxial for the video after that they go to HD cameras but still a coaxial but they have a 4pin connector insteed of the 2pin. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Mine is a 2006. And without having removed my camera to see what the problem is (I imagine its maybe full of water?) is it a matter of pulling it through a little way and snipping the wires and soldering in new non OE camera or is it easier to get a camera with a long enough cable to pull through to the original connection somewhere in the left rear corner of the car? (touchscreen car)
