L322 - trans failsafe, resolved?

Just sharing recent experience.

For past 2-3 months i have been getting trans failsafe message as soon as key in ignition in the morning or after car stood for a while. Take key out and back in (sometimes twice) and it goes away and no further issue. No issued when driving whatsoever, but this was happening increasingly - from 3 or 4 times a week to every day without fail more recently.

Had local indy clear all codes - he said it had a lot of canbus errors. I have my own scanner and it just kept showing 'gear switch fault' so i was leaning towards ignition switch or inihibitor switch.

However, and i hope sharing this does not tempt fate here....whilst spending last weekend fitting a new android unit i had battery off pretty much for 30 or so hours. Of course i also ripped out the head unit and amp etc to replace with android, but since i did this, not had one single occurence of the error!? Thats now 8 days and counting

So maybe, a good period off battery has cleared something? Dunno, but might be worth a shot if you have this problem.

You may have had a small power drain in your old amp or head unit ? Which was draining the battery !

It's the Android head unit, they come with a "fix your gearbox" app as standard..... Told you they were good... Whistle Whistle

I think birchyman could have it, it's usually the GPS DVD that causes a drain.... If you use it ever day it will still start but I bet the voltage was in the high 11's which is enough to upset the delicate balance our FF's have....

Glad it's sorted.... hope it continues.... Pete
