Depreciation

Would any 405 owners mind sharing their depreciation costs please? Up until recently i was of the understanding the 405 was holding incredible residuals... However, I'm assured they are falling quite quickly now & dealers are getting more concerned as to what "hit" March will bring on the market place...

Thanks to all in advance... Thumbs Up

What's the reason they're suddenly dropping? Mild winter? Or are they just not desirable, I to thought they where holding really well. Especially as I drool over the new vs used of my local dealer on a weekly basis lol!

I guess it depends on who you are talking to and whether you are buying or selling.

If you talk to a main dealer and are a seller:
"There's no demand, it's a quiet period, I'm worried about it hanging around, prices are falling - sorry that's the best I can do on price."

If you talk to a main dealer and are a buyer:
"Can't get enough of them, you'd better buy it while you can, I've got someone coming to see it this afternoon, it will be gone by the morning - sorry that's the best I can do on price."

EM, thanks for the response but not really what I'm asking sir...

I/we all know used car salesmen are sharks and use every BS trick in the book to get your business!

My question was, are any current owners thinking their cars are worth £XXXXX PX'ing in but in reality they are dropping further?

A few MD's are expecting to take quite a hit in March from what they are saying...

Sorry, I was being flippant.

I guess used prices will have to drop. One sure thing about Rangies is that they depreciate (to be fair, any large luxury saloon drops a tone of money as it ages). The L405 and L494 were in huge demand and supply was limited - any used examples were always going to hold their value initially. Order times have now dropped and there are plenty in the used system. Normal rules will now reassert themselves. That would suggest that the current relatively strong prices will take a bit of a tumble at some stage to hit more "normal" levels.

However, I think the "channel stuffing" that Ford did (forcing dealers to take more product than they could shift and not caring if they discounted) seems to have gone. So there is far less willingness (for now) for dealers to knock anything significant off the sticker price. This in turn has a stabilising effect on second hand values. Difficult to know if Tata will channel stuff as they can't produce enough to exceed dealer demand at the moment.

I don't know this first hand but a friend who is a trucker (and an ewok driver) said that the truck lads he speaks to who deliver to LR carry more L494's than L405's and the demand for the sport is higher.

Have to say, to me, a 7 seat RR is a nice proposition. Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

What you have to look at is historic 3 year values....

A 2012/62 Vogue TDV6 was new roughly £72k

Now in 2015 you cannot buy a used one for less than say £62k(being very fair) so £10k over 3 years IMO is very very good indeed considering its a huge prestige vehicle with a huge prestige price! Thumbs Up If you have nothing nice to say,say nothing at all.

There aren't any three-year-old L405s (yet).

Yes, assume they were LR cars because none were delivered to customers that early.

Lets be honest, once we are through the "honeymoon period" they will loose value quickly like all prestige cars Whistle
