Mix running rich / Engine Management Light

Was at the dealer's service workshop the other day having an oil leak sourced.

When they gave me the car back I started the engine and the yellow engine management light came on. They then plugged the car into their diagnostic tool, said it was showing that the 'mix was running a bit rich' with a comment that because the 4.2SC is a high performance engine that can happen sometimes. Said they'd cleared the fault via the diagnostic and it should be ok.

Anyone any incline as to what they were on about and how the engine could decide to run a bit rich having not done this before?

Thanks in anticipation Thumbs Up

Tends to happen when the monkeys at the garage move them around, short engine cycles and a bootfull of throttle will soot up the lambda and cause it to run rich until it's been driven normally for a while...... Pete

I assume that your ECUs have all been updated with the latest software ?? My 2006 (built 2005) had some issue with the EML until we replaced the fuel pump, cleaned the entire fuel system and the inlet manifold AND updated the ECU software. After that it ran without any such issues. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!
