Behold the SHINY

Just had a hand wash on the car, they did a decent job to be honest, but when i got home i found that when i painted the house i managed to get small spots of gloss paint all over the car (well a few anyhow).

So out with the polishing kit.

Wash, Clay bar, megs compound with waffle pads, carnuba wax!

This is what it looks like now!

Pretty pleased with myself to be honest. Looks great! Managed to get most of the swirls etc out. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Right.

Censored SHINY......

Rear caliper is binding slightly again, changed the discs and pads at the end of last week (or the garage did) because i thought that the disc may be the issue as the caliper was changed past year! The disc has a large patch of heavy rust on the back where the pad had previously stuck in the carrier at a slight angle!

Anyhoo it wasnt that. The o/s rear is still getting slightly hotter than the n/s, so im going to put a new gen TRW caliper on not a reman PAGID item this time as the n/s had one fitted 2 years ago by LR and its still going strong!

More jobs....... Garage to do methinks as its a 2 person job and swmbo is away (for pedal pushing) to bleed it! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

No, got a recon gen TRW stamped caliper (brake engineering) from a local motor factors for £73.00 incl, so that is going on to see if it sorts it. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Nothing at the moment, started the other day before i had the discs done with a slight judder under braking, having had this happen a few times i knew where the problem was likely to be!

I let the brakes cool for 10, and then checked the temps, o/s was much warmer! Stripped them down and the rear of the o/s disc was in a terrible state from when the pads were sticking in the carrier, Thought new discs may sort it (and needed doing) but i got out on sunday and could smell the brakes, o/s red hot!

It doesnt seem to be the epb binding as the the car will roll freely by hand in N and with brake off. So i reckon the caliper is gone again! When i stripped them the other day i noted it was stiff to wind back, so i think i may be onto something. Will know tomorrow as im dropping it off for the mechanic to swap the caliper over. But tbh if that doesnt sort it im at a loss, apart from re adjusting the epb, which the mechanic did (slightly insulted him by giving him rave printout and bedding in procedure) when he did the discs. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Laughing ... Think I insulted the mechanic who fitted our rear brakes at the weekend by asking him to please make sure he used the supplied tube of copper grease instead of the stuff he used before as I'm wondering if that's maybe why the fronts are squealing!

Thanks.

Thumbs Up
