11 Plate TDv8 4.4 VSE Noobie Questions

Picked up my new FFRR yesterday Smile

I've noticed a number of things which surprise me having come from a 09 plate Jag XF 3.0Tdi Premium Luxury and just wanted to check that it was the car and not me being silly.

1. Reversing Camera. On the Jag the reversing camera was central and the yellow lines lined up with the direction of the car (one set show directly back and another set show where you will turn too with the steering lock that is currently on). The RR seems to have the camera offset to the right of the vehicle and the yellow lines are at an angle to the direction of travel (approx 10-15 deg). I appreciate there is no lines for the steering input but the offset lines seems odd.
2. Reversing Sensors. On the Jag the audio system would reduce the volume in reverse so that you could hear the sensor beeps....the distance would also show up on the camera in orange or red depending on how close you where. The RR sensors work but I can't hear them unless I turn the radio down and there is no colour indication in the camera display.
3. The Jag would dip the nearside mirror in reverse, the RR doesn't appear to do this.

Hi Jeff,

I hope you are enjoying the new Full Fat! Regarding point 3, there should be a setting on the main TFT menu to dip the mirrors on reverse.

Cheers,

I have a 2011 FFRR AB Black and it has the lines that follow the steering and also a line at the bottom that goes from yellow to orange to red with the 4 sensors showing on it as blocks so you can tell which one is giving out the beep, don't know about the audio bit as I always turn the stereo down, I will give it a go and see, as said before the mirror dip function is controlled from the steering wheel button going into the settings menu in between the speedo and rev counter, hope this helps.

I have a MY '10 VSE and on points 1 and 2 its the same as yours - antiquated isn't it Whistle

But there are lots of pluses that make up for some of the ageing technology Thumbs Up

Reversing camera lines are fixed unless you have Vision Assist.

Oooops - other than mounting it in a horse box to keep an eye on things I could never really understand when and why you would ever use one - sounds like a thread starter Thumbs Up
