If you check where the receiver of the signal is (if I remember correctly, at the B-pillar) and use the key very close to the receiver, the signal drownout (if that is causing the problem) may not be as bad or better the key signal is stronger. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

the key fob receiver is located at the top of the upper tailgate and uses the rear screen as an antenna so if you do have an unlocking problem then try putting the key fob close to that point..... ... - .- -.

i was searching for something else and came across the possible reason why the OP's key remote didnt work at the petrol station, apparently there appears to be a magnetic field generated by the petrol stations LPG pump's which interferes with the fobs.. ... - .- -.
