2008 SC engine whine

My wife's 2008 SC started making a whining noise when starting up. The whine changes with the rpm increase and goes away after it is warmed up. I thought it might be the alternator but wasn't sure because of the noise going away after driving. I asked dealer about supercharger but he said he din't think that was the problem. Dealer is a 3 hour drive away so trying to do home work be fore I make the drive. Has anybody had this issue? Thx! Mike

Considering time of year I would say the multibelt and tension roller or the supercharger belt. Try to listen to it with open bonnet and try to pinpoint where the noise is coming from. The tension roller should be replaced when the belt is, the bearing in them gets water/salt/dirt in it and goes to pot over time. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

The noise is coming from the right side of the engine towards the front of the car. Is that where the alternator is located?

The squealing noise on mine was shiny belt syndrome.
