Off-road height setting

I have only ever used the normal running height and the lowered height on my 2003 RR 4.4 V8. Today I tried the off-road height and I was surprised to see how high it actually went, so much clearance from the top of the wheel to the wheel arch!

Does anyone have any photos or videos or info showing how high it is supposed to be? I am assuming it won't raise it too high and the height it was raised to is correct as I have no idea? I should have taken a photo but didn't have my camera, look more like a monster truck Smile

Thanks. Are there any measurements or guides to what they should be for those 3 positions? As in, from ground to wheel arch centre or similar? My off-road height did look somewhat higher than those pics but I could be wrong. I am assuming it's not going to raise it so high that it causes damage? I presume the computer controls that and I would not stabalize if the height was not correct.

If you measure from the center of the wheel to the top of the wheel arch...

Standard is 493mm front and 483mm rear

Off road height is 50mm higher than that....

Access height is 40mm lower than that....

It has a +or- 9mm tolerance, if it's outside that then your system needs calibrating, can be done with the IID tool and others as well or by the dealer for £7,000,000.....!!!! Pete

They are on here somewhere, measured from wheel centre to top of wheel arch, have a search shouldn't be to difficult to find.

Edit... Pete beat me to it.... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

The system can raise the vehicle too high and damage the airbags and flip the sensors if it goes too mad...

This is a pic of mine with tyres at least 2" bigger than yours at a raised off road height that still gives some droop on the suspension... there is 17" clearance under the sills

But with ours and all 02 - 05 can be independently set while 05 on cant. if normal ride height is -10mm than standard, off road and access height will be -10 aswell. Thumbs Up If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

What I put was just the standard measurements, as you say you can't adjust the later ones independently but his system could be well out of calibration or someone has been playing before he bought it.... Pete

Thanks Pete. That picture does look similar to mine when raised at full height. Will check some measurements tomorrow.

I wonder if that is what I did yesterday then when it looked almost too high? I did a full test on all 3 settings this morning and all seems OK to me (I think), I took the measurements with the vehicle parked on a flat surface, measuring from the centre of the wheel (Land Rover centre cap) up to the bottom of the centre of the wheel arch, difficult to be completely accurate with a Stanley tape measure and doing by eye of course but here are the measurements ...

ok - obviously just me then yesterday.

Do these figures (albeit not exactly accurate by eye and with a tape measure) seem OK?

I have 255/50/R20 tyres.

Just wondering I should be looking at re-calibrating or not. If I need to, I can look at taking to an independent or I guess getting something like this - http://www.rswsolutions.com/index.php/rang...-all-comms

Out of my depth on this really.
