What issues are common to the 2010 TDV8 (3.6) and should therefore be checked prior to purchase?

Would I be right in saying that general reliability was much improved by 2010?

Issues related to the turbo's, EGR can crop up. There is a lot on the forum of what can go wrong with these. It is the main reason I ended up with a 5.0 SC, the turbo issues and the fact that I love to have a BIG V8 with supercharger  MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

There are a few common issues to look out for, but some won't be obvious on inspection, notably turbo and egr issues. The other stuff is common to all ffrr, so have a look at the good buyers guides on here. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Also check that factory recall 'Service Action' Q159 has been accomplished (revised software plus new battery). Otherwise the battery will be flat after two or three of days of non-use! BTDT!

How do you check that that has been carried out

Dealer service records? Contact LR Customer Service at Whitley to have them check against the VIN?

I don't know of any physical evidence visible on the car although the LR Assistance recovery guy that came to rescue me the second time my car died was able to tell me that Q159 had not been carried out on my car - but didn't let me in to the secret of how he knew!

When I went back to the selling dealer to complain, they checked some (their?) records and confirmed that it hadn't been done.

Look at the battery it should be a Glass Mat Battery (part number starts with AGM) signifying a Glass Mat battery

Thanks Craig. That prompted me to check the battery on my 2010 TDV8 which supposedly had Q159 factory recall accomplished last year- just in case!!!
The battery now fitted is an Exide 90Ah / 850A(EN), AGM/VRLA-MF, CPLA-10655-CA
So I am now assured that the dealer did do it right!
