L405 - first problem....

My car suffered a huge brain fart today.

I decided to use the FBH this morning. I got in the car and it was toasty warm. All well and good.

I started the car. And stuck it in reverse and manoeuvred around my drive. I then noticed a red triangle on the dash. "Reduced performance". I stopped, turned off the engine and tried locking and unlocking the car. "Reduced performance " warning came up again. So I slotted it back into the drive and hit the "stop" button.

The dash went off but the engine kept running.

WTF?

I turned the engine on and off and the engine stopped. But the dash said "not in Park". Which is how I left it. So I got back in the car and started it again.

The car the started and ran perfectly. I drove it to the station. No problems.

When I got back to it this evening, the same issues all over again: reduced performance then dieseling then back to normal.

Booked into the dealer but I need the car next week. The dealer had no idea.

I suspect a low battery. I'll be filming it tomorrow.

It's good to know they haven't changed the features we know and love about an FF

Total unpredictability......

Hope it's a speedy and easy fix... Pete

Get Danny to pick you up on the way past. Razz letters not necessarily in the right order

The main fault was an exhaust temperature sensor.

They replaced it, replaced the dash display for weird behaviour (I think this was overkill), reflashed the software to the latest, did someone to the HVAC on the FBH.

Car running like a dream (pity the UK traffic isn't - the South is officially full)

You would have thought that LR would have dealt with the low battery type multiple faulty messages with the L405. All we need is a fault light that relates to to the actual fault. The turn off turn back on again procedure really should not be necessary in a £100k car. If VW, BMW and others can do it....

Appreciate all cars will have teething problems but how long have land rover been making range rovers!
I miss mine, probably more the idea I had a good car, sadly the reality is I made excuses for it when things went wrong.
On 100k cars it's inexcusable.

Agree. I know some of you think I'm ridiculous for deferring and deferring but my 15.5MY is now order locked so it's on its way! The issues I've had with my 11.5MY L322 (some 10 years into production) have been pretty inexcusable too. At 50k miles it seems to be finally where it needed to be 3.5 years ago on day 1.

I'm looking forward to the L405 but some of what you see/read makes me very nervous.

Due to wear I live I need a 4x4 and there is no real luxury capable competitor out there.
