Intermittent battery drain...what to do

Since April very satisfied with my FF, but...........whenever I leave it for more than 2 days I get the "HDC inactive" message and when left for a week it will start but not very easy.
Done so far: new battery (Varta 110A), new alternator, new FSR. I have a constant battery drain of 30mA so I thought everything should be solved now. But still have the HDC message after a few days Big Cry Big Cry

When I connected the ammeter for more than a few hours I noticed a constant battery drain of 30 mA but after one or two hours it suddenly rises to 120 to 200 mA. This status lasts for 15 min. and comes up every ± 2 hours Question Question Question Question What is going on?
So far I consecutively removed fuses 34, 49 and 22 at no avail. What do you suggest as next steps? what fuses to be removed next? Very grateful Mr. Green for your brains

I am sure more expertise will be along shortly but I have heard of sunroof closure being an issue.

Also if you have a rear heater blower there might be a second fsr to replace

Thanks for your reply.
Might be interesting about the sunroof. Thumbs Up Next fuse to unplug will be the sunroof one.
I'm unsure if I have a rear blower. Will check that tomorrow.

You have a rear blower Wink We all do Laughing

Does your car ever shut down? (red light by gear lever after 10-20 minutes)

DVD NAV is the other area to check, but you may need to keep pulling fuses until you find the culprit .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

@ Stan; Thnx for this thread. (Was reading this one already and got distracted by the many useful threads in it Laughing Laughing )

@ Joe; Whistle OK, then there might be an extra FSR for the rear? Do you know where to access it?

Yes car completely shuts down (gear lever red bulb goes out as well); only needs 30 mA then, so seems OK to me. But then there is a sudden wake-up of something Question , goes up to 120 to 200 mA for only 15 min. This occurs every 2 - 3 hours. Confused

Rangie4fun: Do you have front wipers or jets on your headlights? I was advised to pick out the fuse for the front wipers as they tend to cause a lot of draining problems.

I have another question relating to this issue: As I do not use my car much at the moment and I do not have access to a power outlet in the yard, I was wondering what would be the best way to prevent the battery from running flat? The car is a ´03 TD6 with a newish 110 amp Bosch battery.

In theory, how long would you need to keep the car running stationary in order to cover the initial cranking of the engine and top up the drained voltage (for example, the average drain over three days)? I try to drive the car as much as I can, but sometimes the car just has to sit for longer periods of time.

@SASS; yes I do have wipers/washers on headlights, so thanks for another useful direction to look for. The wipers fuse is now on the list. Do you happen to know which numer it is?

Regarding the re charging required I'm not sure what to advise you. IMHO it depends on how much "power" is left in the battery and how much electrical consumers (headlights, stereo, heated seats, window heating etc etc) you put on when driving the car as these all have to compete with the total output of the alternator. Best way to get an idea is to measure the battery voltage before you start the car and after you stopped the engine. Wait at least an hour (don't forget to already open bonnet otherwise when you open the car later the whole circus is going to start up) and put on lights for 10 seconds to eliminate surface charge, after that measure the voltage.

solved

Question Question Question
Last week I disconnected some more fuses at no avail Big Cry
Gave the battery a regeneration charge and after that a thorough charge for some 48 hours at the same time decided that the time has come to fit the car with a second battery in the rr wing (beneath the fuse box). I fitted a master switch between -ve battery and ground connection. Done this on wednesday and since then used the FBH several times and no more anoying "HDC inactive" messages Mr. Green Very Happy Smile
Why didn't they do that from factory Question Shocked
