This got me thinking about what is good about Christmas for adults - then I remembered the ride out I'm planning for my wife, daughter, niece and me through the forests on Boxing Day Thumbs Up Four horses, forest trails and no timber lorries to worry about Thumbs Up

What's not to like?

BSOD is easy to fix if you're patient. Take a photo of the BSOD and note the faulting module and the error number. Then google it. The chances of you having one which google doesn't have the answer for are remote indeed but even if you do, just re-installing the OS will likely fix it. Thumbs Up

EDIT. Oh yeah, Christmas. Can't stand it. Off to the Dominican republic this year to get away from it all. Sure they'll have some celebrations but at least I won't have to be nice to people that get on my nerves.

Back OT, BSODs are usually because a driver needs updating to support new hardware or because a new driver has been installed that is incompatible with existing hardware. As already mentioned, there is actually a lot of useful info (for us geeks) in the BSOD that will help to diagnose it. The screen usually displays the offending file (something.SYS), the error (in CAPS with underscores e.g. YOU_ARE_STUFFED) and at the bottom a Stop code beginning "0x". Use your favourite search engine to look for the error code or stop code and you will usually find someone who has gone through the same pain and hopefully posted a fix.

I've often found a good spinrite at level 4 does the trick and staves off bsod issues until the drive is swapped or machine rebuilt Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
