New Zealand 2004 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black
Hi, just new here with an 04 4.4 V8 Vogue

Hi!

Been lurking on here for a while, so best introduce myself!
I've just bought an 04 Java Black V8 Vogue with a 4.4 V8 on LPG, which is a nice piece of kit. Mechanically its in pretty good shape having had a replacement engine recently, the trans has had regular fluid changes and all the airbags and compressor have been replaced less than a year ago. It does however have a number of annoying smaller problems, which is ok as I got it fairly cheap.

The issues I'm working through are as follows.

Only one key. Have ordered a spare from Dan at Duckworth.

Pixelated dash issue. I'm in Lincoln, none of the dash repair guys are near me, so figuring which way to go with this at the moment. Don't fancy ripping my dash out so will probably take it to one of the guys in London when I get a chance.

Passenger cup holder broken, again new one ordered from Dan.

Hoping to upgrade to MK4 BMW DVD satnav. Think I've located a cheap one at a nearby scrap-yard. I've got copies of both the latest software and high navigation DVD. Its already got a Parrot MKi9200 fitted which seems to work pretty well, both for streaming music and phone connectivity.

Debating whether to get a reversing camera/Freeview TV upgrade. Looking at this kit http://www.parkmyauto.co.uk/range-rover-rr...-944-p.asp anyone else gone down this route?

Had the AC re-gassed, its ok, but not great. Thinking the condenser may be at fault.

Passenger side mirror doesn't like to fold in/out. Lots of clicking noises, moving into strange positions. From what I've read thats a replacement job.

Parking sensors. Think I've got an issue with one of my front sensors, they are all clicking away, but I get the annoying high pitch tone and flashing light. Rears seem ok but don't detect anything until its fairly close. Will probably just get a new sensor and try swopping it with each of the front sensors in turn and see if that cures the issue.

As you can see quite a few niggles, but nothing serious. Just enough to keep me out of trouble. I will post some pics up once we get some decent weather. Loving this site, got loads of good info off it already.

That was my next port of call if a sensor didn't sort it. Any pointers for a supplier of new wiring looms?

And many thanks for the welcome!

No as they are fixed (part of the front loom) on your aged car! You can buy a new rear loom cut the plug off and solder them together?

Welcome Kiwi... Have you tried double tapping the elec fold mirror button in an effort to 'reset' the mirrors and restore order to the folding mechanism?

Thumbs Up

Welcome Kiwi Thumbs Up

As for your PDC, if they are all clicking and the pdc's colour coded paint scabby/ corroded that may be the problem, mine used to work sometimes then not others with the hi pitch sound as if your backed up to a wall closly but my 3 on the rear bumper where corroded, all I had done was take them out, clean up re sprayed in primer then a top coat, not had a problem since. Thumbs Up

Pleanty on here who have done the back up camara, easy mod to do with the older FF. If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

Cheers for the replies.

Tried the double tap a few times, the drivers side folded in, the passengers side just whirred away, no clicking noises, no movement I think it has totally given up on life.

The front sensors look like they are in pretty good condition no bubbly paint or corrosion, so I'll have a look at that in some more depth soon.

As for the TV/reversing kit, you are correct, I posted the wrong link, this is for the non touchscreen head unit

Fair one, but I need to keep myself amused whilst my better half is popping into the shop!

Put new wipers on all round today and new wheel centre caps(black Land Rover symbols, very colour co-ordinated!).

The rear washer jets are clagged up, tried the old needle through the jet trick but they are rock solid. Who sells the washer cap thing as a single item as online all I can see are full rear wiper arm kits for £50..

Take off the rear spoiler, four 10mm bolts inside the hatch you get to when it's open, then spoiler pulls towards you to remove, take the wiper off, carefully lift up the cap, it's a small ball and socket arrangement with the water coming up through the ball... remove the arm and have a go from inside, I left mine soaking in hot water for a while and then 120psi through the airline sorted it out... been fine for months now...

It'll probably have rust all over the wiper arm so get some satin black and sandpaper before you do it..... Pete

Good news, got the rear washer nozzle 1/2 working. One nozzle is good, the other 1 has a broken needle firmly wedged into it. 100% better than what I had before, but I'll keep an eye out for a new one.
Next job is to whip the dash out and get the pixelated display sorted. Think I'll save that job for a sunnier afternoon than we're having down here at the moment!
