Ignition controlled live

Whilst looking through the forum to find any info on fitting a dash cam and hard wiring into an ignition live. Really couldn't find anything that definitely stated which fuse in the front was used, so I looked through the wiring diagrams and done some testing with a multimeter and found that fuse 5 is controlled by the ignition.
I also think that fuse 2 & 8 are as well but didn't test them.

Hope this might help someone on here in the future. Regards
Mark

Stan,

The wiring diagrams I referred to are on here, which seem to be copyright 2001, and mine is a 2007 and fuse references seem to be the same. Regards

be sure to update us with the fuse you used for your dashcam, and what year etc. as i tried to use one recommended, on a previous thread, (piggy back on i think either 7 or 13) and it affected the steering badly. (steering angle sensor i think. )

^ Plug you piggy back connector into an un-used fuse position then you won't affect anything.
Plenty of un-used ignition controlled positions available. Thumbs Up

I used fuse 5 in the front. Labeled for diagnostics port and transmission - no adverse affects yet.

from a 2007 TDV8

I have just tried all the spare slots. Some do not have connectors for fuses and the ones that do are not perm or ignition live.

HTH someone. Regards
