Upper tail gate door

When I try to unlock the boot release either by the key button or dash board switch It sounds like a machine gun going off!! ( 3or 4 quick noisy clicks) then it unlocks it's locks ok any idea or more important any cure? It's an 06 my

You lucky Censored .
Mine does the machine gun imitation stays latched but not enough to tell the computer it is shut and I have to press car unlock to release the rear tail gate. It doesnt lock it either.
I try not to use that button except accidentaly when pocket locking Embarassed
