parking in london

see this 2010 with the new wheelaccessories, i know the price of parking in london is high but you would think if you could afford a new RR you can put a few quid in the meter, give it 30 min and it will be on the back of a tow lorry going back to the pound @£200.00 a day, now dont that make you want to visit the london sites,

I was reading an article last week about parking tickets in Manchester. They were saying that half a dozen individual driver had amassed a massive amount of tickets. 1 guy had had 110 tickets in a year. They were saying that they were all that rich that £30 was of no consequence to them, even 110 times!

Manchester has a policy of clamping only in disabled or obstruction cases.

To be fair, Clamping should be saved for illegal parking, not unpaid parking. It makes more sense to wap an extra charge on the car when they havent paid. The rich shouldnt be exempt from the others though............ My Previous RR's!

Looking at that though I would have been tempted to put it in Off Road height and slide the thing off. It doesn't look to cover half the wheel so could probably be reversed out of.

Still don't agree with inconsiderate parking though. If you want to use the facilities then pay for it. Simple enough really.

The chain usually goes through the steering gear or round the wishbone, to stop exactly that.
But the padlocks quite often come off with a sharp whack as they often use cheap ones. Or so I was informed...

Thing is, as its a british car, the owner will be traced and sent a summons for non payment. Its a shame the same can't be said for the super rich billionaire arab kids that are currently flying their Veyrons & Lambos over in private jets, and using the London streets as free parking and racetracks at night, with middle eastern registration numbers so they evade prosecution. Now they can afford to pay to park! 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

Definitely not true!

I've fell victim to the ridicuously complicated parking schemes in some areas of Manchester......

couple of examples: I parked in one area where it was free to park for 15 mins, a nearby traffic warder confirmed this, I parked, came back 10 mins later and was clamped! Asked why and although it is free for 15 mins, you have to get a free ticket from the machine to prove what time you arrived. I wrongly assumed a warden would come round once and note the cars and if they were still there more than 15 mins later then maybe a ticket but not a clamp! Ridiculous.

I have also been towed from parking in a loading bay in which a police officer told me I could after 6pm.....turns out I couldn't!!

I'm not too rich to worry about parking tickets nor arrogant and park where I want but I have been towed, clamped and ticketed a few times. Big Cry

This subject has just appeared on BBC London news - reporting how concerned / outraged the council are with these playboys with their super / hyperformance cars can flout the parking regulations in West London because the cars are registered overseas.

They are now calling for a change in the law so they can recover the £4million outstanding from issued parking fines on cars with UAE plates.

I work in and around West London, each night every night until the early hours, and always see these same cars about during the summer months when these guys jet over from the Emirates for their holidays.

Yes, occasionally, some of these cars are parked 'illegally'outside various night clubs, casinos and hotels but they are not causing any obstruction to other road users - unlike bendy buses, rickshaws and taxis which flood these same areas.

As for being 'raced' - this doesn't really happen? - they are paraded about, completing various laps of the West End, showing off there machinery to the thousands of pedestrians which stare, point, photograph or video them cruising past - these cars would struggle to reach above the speed limit (any more than a normal vehicle) due to the quality of the road surfaces or other traffic and traffic restrictions that occupy the same road they are travelling on - even at 4 -5am. A few with noisy exhausts are revved up for the entertainment of the crowds that gather around them but it only adds to the other noise pollution (car horns, powerful motorcycles, emergency vehicle sirens, loud music and people shouting etc) - they are not alone in creating a racket!

Parking regulations and available parking areas in London has become ridiculous and I am mildly amused that some narky, jealous little council official is getting riled because they are unable to recover their unreasonable fines from these billionaires due to a loop-hole in their system. It serves them right for employing armies of arrogant wardens (most of whom struggle with the English langauge) who gather in easy catchment areas and issue fines relentlessly so as they hit their target and create the revenue to employ these Censored in the first place.

I doubt a fine (which would be recoverable) being imposed would prevent them from parking their £1million+ Bugatti's, Pagani's or Koeniggseggs where they like.

Being a car enthusiast - I enjoy seeing these fantastic cars being used by the fortunate few who can afford to own them rather than just stare glassy eyed at pictures of them in magazines or watching re-runs of Top Gear.

And something else Delamo, at least these wealthy young guys get out and use their cars on the public highway, unlike so many British owners of exotic cars who lock them away in an airconditioned garage (or worse a showing of room in their house) and maybe the only drive they ever get is from the garage to a covered truck to be taken for an annual service. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

Absolutely Tim Thumbs Up

About this time last year we were unloading some equipment from our Transits outside the Lancaster Hotel by Hyde Park Corner.

Our vans were temporarily blocking the hotel driveway/entrance and we were parked next to some beautiful Astons and Porsches which were being photographed enthusiastically by a young lad (who was accompanied by his parents).

Then behind us, a Ferrari Enzo (one of my own personal favourites) pulled up and patiently waited for us to move out of the way... when seeing this vehicle arrive - the young lad went berserk and was shaking with excitement just by seeing his"favourite car in the whole world..." in front of him. Very nearly wet himself infact!

All credit to the owner/driver, amused at seeing the boy's reaction to his car - he ejected his passenger and got him to ask the parents if the boy would like to go for a passenger ride around the block, before he parked up for the night outside the hotel.

The boy was stunned and took quite some encouragment (thinking it wasn't really happening) before he got into the car and the door was shut behind him - we then had to move our vans out of the way and let them on their way of course!

I guarantee that boy will remember those 10 glorious minutes for the rest of his life!

Strange?? I park in loading bays all the time in Manchester at night, they usually have a sign saying you can after 6? I've also never known clamping for failing to pay and display (or free and display in your case). You must just be unlucky. You arent sha Censored ing a traffic wardens wife are you?
